EMBRACING THE NEW NORMAL
July 11, 2020
It was March of this year that the whole Philippines was forced to community quarantine. In just one snap, everything changed. People were mandated to stay at home, schools to stop face to face classes and every citizen to follow the so called “quarantine protocols”. The Covid19 pandemic truly compromised the way people’s lives used to be. At the moment, people are still entangled of the hope that sooner, quarantine will be lifted so that each and everyone can finally go back to their usual life. However, this pandemic is already depriving the people of that chance. President Duterte released a statement that by December there is a chance that a vaccine to beat Covid19 will be available. Until then, people are left with no choice but to embrace the new normal. Research showed that it takes 30 to 60 days to establish new habits or to stop bad habits. With almost 4 months of quarantine it is undeniable that people are already getting used to how things are because of the health precautions brought by the pandemic. From the coding of Food and Medicine passes to restricting leisure activities, people might just accept the fact that there is no chance on returning to their usual lives. Either having a vaccine or not, health measures will still be observed even in the post-pandemic era.
